Baking win!

I don't want to be one of those people who blames there tools for
dodgy workmanship, lets just say the oven in our new house and I
have been having some relationship issues. This is the first thing
I have baked that I have not burnt any part of!! Things are looking up.

Out to the pub for a post NYC catch up with friends, sporting a new
check Jcrew number, wearing a long tank under with the bottom few
buttons undone seems to do the trick. Also getting lots of wear from
my $8 Kmart stretch waist jeans...yes $8, this kinda worries me that
they can produce jeans for a price that low but they are so comfy and
fit into my not buying any expensive maternity clothes regime.

I have been on a mission lately to decorate/furnish our house,
for too long now its been looking like we just moved in, I LOVE
browsing the home wares at anthropologie! I though this post
could be a combined home ware/shoe focus because for me all
interweb browsing one way or another ends in looking at shoes.
I really like all the pregnancy friendly heel heights that they
have going on!

I was really excited to go along to the opening of Northcity4 last night
a shared jewellery and object studio, it was very inspiring to see the
product of lots of hard work by some of Melbourne's most exciting
contemporary jewelers. I feel extra excited that this is literally around
the corner from where I live, oh my love of the north side only grows stronger!

Today's outfit requirements: Colourful! I am in love with this new
top I picked on sale at Anthropologie in New York.

Pink suede shoes

Adding a pop of colour with my new brogues, also using a scarf as a big
boob distraction. I'm really loving the old jersey stretch skirt too, so comfy
on my tummy, this one is from supre, read cheap and cheerful!

Today's outfit requirements: Desk to Dinner, this outfit requirement has
always really cracked me up, I did have to go from a casual lunch to my
first night back of class at the jewellery bench.

Bad bra day

Unfortunately everyday has 'been bad bra day', I think this is one of the
effects of pregnancy I am enjoying least, funny because I think its the
opposite for lots of women. I was more than happy with my allocated
boob size pre-pregnancy and now things are getting a bit ridiculous!
I joined up to the Mothercare mailing list the other day and an email
informing me of there 29% off sale for the 29th is the push I needed
to bite the bullet and rework my wardrobe in the bra department.

I see you clip and I would be lying if I didn't admit
I'm still a bit freaked out by you!

Lemon suprise

I got my bake on yesterday and made a batch of lemon yo yo's for my
lemon crazy friend, happy birthday Tess! Coincidentally my manicure
matched the cooking, lemon surprise indeed.

Flying

Today's post is about flying when pregnant, (between week 20 & 24weeks)
I can only assume things get way more uncomfortable as the weeks tick by.
Luckily I had a doc app scheduled a few days before I left, the doctors advice was to:
-Wear flight socks (amazing can't believe I have never tried these before) my feet definitely thanked me for it after, I'm pretty sure I would not have been able to get my boots on at the end of the flight otherwise.
-Drink 4 liters of water!! This was a challenge but I took an empty one liter bottle and refilled it four times (ok maybe three and a half)
-Get up and walk around lots (the water made sure I didn't have a choice with this point)
My non medical advice is:
-Wear comfy clothes! Nothing tight unless its incredible stretchy!
-Don't drink anything fizzy & take the vego option, I have enough issues with a sore tummy
when flying, I don't need the extra bubbles in my now limited tummy space and meat is tough
to digest so I found the vego option is better.
-Pack snacks, I didn't' and wish I had, I was still hungry after meals and wanted something
(other than the potato chips on offer) to nibble on.
-Take lip balm and moisturizer, to keep dry skin at bay
-Last but not least, if you are traveling with a partner or friend get you travel agent to book your seats with a space in between eg. 27A and 27C, rarely will they ever put a person in between you and in that case you can ask the person to swap! It work for us and it was great to have the little bit of extra room.

Outfit requirements: Super comfort, loose slip with even looser t over
the top, boots had to be worn cause there the only pair of shoes
I took! Note the clips on my bag which made it great for converting
to one long strap and wearing across body.

Well as it turns out I didn't manage to figure out the blogging from my phone deal, but I back and
bigger than ever...literally. I can't believe how quickly my tummy is growing it probably does not hurt that I was eating for two (more like 4 some days :) there was just so much yummy food that I had to try! I will post some photos from the trip over the next few days, today's snaps are some
general NY tourist type snaps.

Apple!!!

I'm heading off tomorrow!! I did an apple themed manicure to get in the mood.
Its long been my dream to explore NYC and I always said I wanted to do this
pre-baby, so as soon a I found out I was pregnant I asked the doctor the best
time to travel (between 20 and 28 weeks), convinced my sister to come and booked
tickets! Beyond excited about hitting the shops and eating (for two of course)
my way around the city. Blog posts may be a bit few are far between over the
next three weeks but I promise I will be back!!

Tonal Bling

So today I decided now more than ever its time to rely on some statement bling
to focus ones attention on, this tonal mixed metal number with no crystal sparkle
is perfect for all day wear. Along with my over sized T-shirt it helps hide strain my
belly is putting on my skirt!

More wedding

Special occasion dressing is proving to be a bit more difficult than I expected.
Initially I thought if it's flowing it will work.... not always the case.
My tips are:
1. If you have a noticeable bump, wearing something to showcase it can help you
to feel less fat and more pregnant.
2. Be ware the giant cleavage, necklines that were once subtle can look altogether
way to in your face with a quickly expanding bust, having a big cleavage on display
can make everything else look big too.
3. Spend a bit more time on your hair and accessories, it will make you feel fabulous,
even when your back is starting to ache and everyone around you is getting festively merry.
4. Take some party flats in your bag, I didn't last nearly as long as I predicted in my heels.

I"m off to a wedding today, it is a no gift, donation to honeymoon affair.
I decided to make some cards as I never have any at the last minute when
I need one! Now I have a healthy stock of cards and mini gift tags. Photos
of "whale at the wedding" to come tomorrow (I exaggerate, I found a dress
in my current collection that I'm really happy with, after trying on and bursting
out of many others)

Spotty suprise 2

Who says sock and sandals is just for German backpackers! I took my new spotty
socks out for a spin (awesome Christmas present thanks Isy) Also on my list of
favorite awesome things are my over sized ghetto love heart earrings.

Today's outfit requirements: Out for dinner, the heels are slowly moving toward the
back of the wardrobe but for dinner outings I can still handle them, will have to wait

Medium Rare

Feeling a bit average today or as I like to say medium rare, kinda like I
have a hangover but with out the fun night before section! The bump is
definitely getting bigger. The long singlet has become my best friend
closely followed by the hair elastic waist band extender, both featured

Birthday bling

A night out on the town for my friends birthday dinner... presents, wine
(no not for me) and inappropriate conversations at inappropriate volume
levels. Our dinner was great, the complementary tude on arrival not so great
but eh, that's Melbourne for you, the Palm sugar ice cream sunday was worth it!
Also....18 weeks today!

Today's outfit requirements: Party time, dragged out my wedding heels, going
to make sure I get some wear out of these babies while I can, my legs were not
overly impressed the next morning after tackling the stairs at curtain house.

Last september

I had some warm and fuzzy flashbacks to my wedding last September when
Polka dot bride posted some of our photographers (you can't be serious)
shots yesterday.I still can't believe the wedding has already come and gone

Out and about in the hot hot Melbourne heat, taking my new dress for
a spin. Meanwhile how cute are these earrings! $1 from Diva!! There is
treasure in that store you just have to be prepared to hunt for it. I bought
the last 3 pairs and used them to fill the bon bons I made at Christmas...win.

Lazy sunday

I can't lie, date night without wine is not the same, and to all those who
told me "you won't even feel like drinking when your pregnant" you lied
to me to!!! We checked out the Bill Cunningham doco, and would highly
recommend it.

As happens all too often I totally did not nail it in the weather
department and ended roasting up a storm in my tights.
I did get creative with some new nail polish kindly gifted to
me by my sis for Christmas. I figure even when your bursting
out of your top which is now more of a jacket type of set up my
fancy pants nails can divert attention.

hello!!!

So this is my blog....welcome. The plan is to blog my pregnancy
fashion journey, I'm a bit nervous. Right now I'm 15.6
(15 weeks and 6 days) for me this is proving to be the super
awkward, fat or pregnant stage, I'm doing my best to rub my
belly/fat when any "I wonder if she realizes her gut it hanging
out" glances come my way.
